Thank you for considering employment with Peninsula Bay Cities Day Camp and Sierra Sleep-Away. There is nothing more rewarding than having a positive impact on the lives of young people. 

Our programs offer children - and Staff - an opportunity to grow, build self-confidence, learn new skills, and make lifelong friends.

WORKING AT PBC

Summer Dates: June 17- August 2, 2024 (7 weeks) 

Staff Training:  June 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th 

Starting Salary: $16.78/hr

Additional training may be needed depending on specific position or other circumstance. 

Day Camp Staff: 

Monday through Friday 

Regular Camp Day Hours: 9:00AM - 3:00PM

Staff Hours: Staff work roughly 6.5 - 8 hours each day. Start and end times may vary, but the general staff hours are 8:15AM - 3:45PM. 

PBC offers an extended day program and several staff may work from 7:30AM – 3:15PM or 9:00AM – 5:30PM  

Sierra Sleep-Away  

12-days: August 5-16, 2024

This amazing 12-day program follows the Day Camp ending. Most staff return to this incredible experience each year. Our Sleep-Away staff are hired directly from the Day Camp Staff and is dependent upon availability, positions, and certifications desired. If you are interested in joining the Sleep-Away staff at summer's end, then you may indicate this on the staff application.

Peninsula Bay Cities Day Camp is located on the beautiful Rolling Hills Preparatory Campus in San Pedro, CA. The magnificent and secure 20-Acre site includes large grass field areas, court space, outdoor volleyball & basketball courts.

Our unique setting and outstanding staff provide an enriching and caring environment where children can discover, laugh, learn and grow.

PBC CAMP 
(AGES 4 - 13)

Fun-based experiential learning with hands on activities. Weekly themes & PBC camp activities.
SPORTS CAMP
(2ND - 6TH GRADE)
 

Archery Academy, Soccer, Basketball, and Flag Football Camps. An introductory, emphasizing fundamentals, sportsmanship, and personal accomplishment.
ACADEMIC CAMP 
(2ND - 5TH GRADE)

Fun-based experiential learning with hands on activities. Weekly themes & PBC camp activities.

Academic Counselor

Archery Counselor

Arts & Crafts Counselor

This position has been filled for Summer 2024.

Flag Football Specialist

One Group Counselor will spend one week in charge of Flag Football camp, running skills and drills.

Soccer Specialist

One Group Counselor will spend one week in charge of Soccer camp, running skills and drills.

Basketball Specialist

One Group Counselor will spend one week in charge of Basketball camp, running skills and drills.

Group Counselor
Most of our staff are hired to this position. Manages and engages a group of like aged campers and directs activities on the daily schedule. Group counselors may spend one week leading a sport camp program in one of the above specialist positions.

BOAT DRIVER

We are currently seeking a person with experience driving waterski boats. This will be for our 12-day Sierra Sleep-Away program (August 5th – 16th) in beautiful Bass Lake, CA. Minimum age 20. This position may also work as staff in our Day Camp. If you have some experience with waterskiing/wakeboarding and driving a waterski boat, then apply now!

Camp Monroe After School 
Located in Bermuda Dunes, CA, Camp Monroe takes all the magic of camp to the students of James Monroe Elementary School.

Along with providing time for students to complete homework assignments, this program offers many of the same activities and games played at Summer Camp.

Staff must be energetic and actively engaged in athletic game play as well as creative and imaginative. Kids having fun with the staff provides them opportunities to expand their minds into critical thought by exercising their natural curiosity and creativity. We foster the same growth and skill acquisition in these students as we do with our campers at PBC and Sierra.

August 20, 2024 - June 5, 2025 (dates follow Desert Sands Unified School District Calendar)
Hours: 
Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 5:30pm *Thursday 12:15pm-5:30pm *Thursdays are minimum day schedule meaning after school programs start earlier   
Scheduled hours are flexible
