About Camp Monroe!

Camp Monroe is located in beautiful Bermuda Dunes, California at James Monroe Elementary School. The campus provides a fun and safe environment to conduct our program including ample classroom space, a multi-purpose room, playgrounds, handball walls, blacktop, grass fields, a whiffleball ball diamond, outdoor volleyball net, and basketball courts. Camp Monroe also uses much of its own equipment to create unique camp games. While temperatures and weather occasionally render our activities to the indoor spaces, we are often outside and very active. Campers enjoy engagement from our staff at every activity, whether they are excitingly commentating on the camper's personal achievments, exuberantly refereeing games fairly and confidently, or playing right alongside the kids, Camp Monroe Staff are more than just "supervisors." We are actively curating the fun and participating in every activity in some capacity.

Camp Monroe has been slowly expanding since its inception in 2016 and currently accepts around 130 camper enrollments. The campers are divided into groups based on grade level and each group has a team of counselors at the helm. Staff collaborate to achieve goals within the group, make plans to maintain positive camper dynamics, and tailor activities to their group's abilities.

GRASSHOPPERS
Grades: TK-K (Ages: 4-6)
Our Grasshoppers participate in nearly all of our camp activities and are often experiencing an organized program for the first time. This is a crucial time of development, and the right Staff can make long lasting, positive impacts on the rest of their elementary school experience!
ROADRUNNERS
Grades: 1-2 (Ages: 6-8)

The Roadrunners will be a mix of new and returning campers. Some will be very familiar with the camp activities, and some will be brand new to all of it. It's important as Staff to facilitate an environment where everyone feels included and engaged in the activities.
CHUKWALLAS
Grade: 3-4 (Age: 8-10)

The Chuckwallas include some of the fourth grade with the third grade. At this age, group dynamics become extremely important. Staff maintain a respectful community for these campers to continue growing, developing, and learning new skills.
COYOTES
Grade: 4-5 (Age: 10-11)

Being in the Coyote group is a great responsibility, as these campers are role models for the rest of Camp. It is the duty of Staff to help guide and influence positive decision making among the group.
