More About Work Hours

Because the camp season is so short, attendance and punctuality are absolutely critical when considering a job at camp -- there are no provisions for time off for anyone.

It is important to understand that the campers and their families are depending on the staff to “make” the camp experience for each child.

Without a motivated, enthusiastic, and friendly staff on site every day, there can be no camp.

Policy Basics

Peninsula/Bay Cities Summer Activities is a drug/alcohol/tobacco free environment.

Certifications: All staff persons are required to have current CPR and First-Aid certification prior to the start of camp. Classes are offered at colleges, hospitals, fire departments, and the American Red Cross. The camp may also offer classes. Please call for information.

Health Form: Each staff person will have a completed medical and emergency information form on file. The form will attest to their good health and list information that may be needed in the event of an emergency. A physical examination, by a licensed physician, is required for all staff persons who will be operating a camp van.

Background Investigation: California Assembly Bill 2914 provides the furnishing of conviction records involving drugs and violence in addition to sex offenses. Fingerprints and summary criminal information may be required prior to employment.

Grooming Standards: In order to maintain the camp’s well-established and conservative image, each staff person shall be clean-shaven and present a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times.

Staff persons are required to wear staff shirts (provided), appropriate clothing and closed toed shoes at all times while at camp. The camp will supply staff shirts.

The Following are NOT Acceptable:

· Beards of any kind

· Extreme sideburns

· Unconventional hairstyles or hair color

· Visible tattoos

· Men will have hair conservatively trimmed above the collar.

· Men are not permitted to wear earrings of any kind.

· Woman may wear no more than one simple stud or small hoop earring in each ear.

· No staff member may display piercing of any kind in their mouth or any part of their body except as stated above.

· Visible tattoos or body art are not permitted.

**This is a simple and brief overview of camp policies. The complete outline of our policies and procedures can be found in our "Policies for Success" manual, which will be distributed during staff training.
